BODIES & TREES
Movement inspired by our human story with trees
This workshop is about experiencing movement co-created between body and environment through climbing and dancing with trees. We will explore the evolutionary and biomechanical story of the 5 forms of arboreal locomotion: Quadrupedal, Quadrumanus, Bipedal, Brachiation and Clinging/Leaping. How these patterns helped shape us from tree dwelling mammals to primates, to the primates that ventured and stayed on the ground, will give a different appreciation of the bigger picture of human movement. The trees will also be our dance partners and inspiration as we touch, look, and listen to their shapes, songs and wisdom as a source of creativity for improvisation.
LOCATION
We meet at 1pm at the entrance opposite Hampstead Heath Overground station (the corner of South End Road and South Hill Park)
